As we move into the field of Pre-Employment Transition Services, our agency will be providing paid work experiences for students 14-18 years of age. We are excited about the opportunity to provide this service, but we are running into road blocks with insuring this group of students through Workers Compensation. As we are working through the on-boarding process for them we would like any guidance that you may have had in your experience with hiring employees under similar programs.
Specifically, we are being asked the following questions:
- How can companies assure the risk is minimal?
- Have their been any noted workman's comp issues with this new young group?
Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated.
